Ginger-Molasses Cookies

I love these cookies! It’s like a Gingersnap but it’s chewy, not snappy 🙂

It goes great with hot cocoa, spiced tea, coffee, well….everything, and is an absolute must every Christmas.


Ginger-Molasses Cookies

1 cup butter or butter flavored Crisco

3/4 cup sugar

1 egg

2 T molasses

2 cups flour

4 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp cloves

1/2 tsp ginger

1 tsp baking soda

Beat together butter, sugar, egg, and molasses until creamy. Mix in the rest of the ingredients.

*Chill the dough for at least an hour. It handles much easier this way.

Working in batches (1/2 in the refrigerator while you roll 1/2 to keep it firm) roll the dough into 1-inch balls, dip into a small bowl of sugar and then place sugar side up on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Don’t flatten. Bake at 350* for about 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
